Broadbottom village was home for more than 10 years. On the edge of the Derbyshire Peak District, it has a thriving creative scene and every year there is a Christmas Craft event where local makers set up stalls and people come from far and wide to have a fine old time. These t shirt designs were based around the theme of adventre and feature actual locations around the village, though the extreme nature of some of the adventure to be had may have been slightly exaggerated!


Design concepts for a friend’s heating and plumbing business. A little like the chicken and the egg, the van came first so that became the basis for the colour palette.

What started off as an online chat between two friends turned into a group with a world-wide membership, some of whom get together occasionally for a ‘swally’ which usually involves beer, fun, chat, laughter… and beer! The Stout Nerd design has appeared on beer a label but mostly as t shirt designs, the latest of which was used to raise money to support two charities.

Designs centred around another interest – fishing. The ‘Screamin’ Reels Hardcore Fishing Club’ is a take on the motorcycle club patch. The second is a biomechanical graphic representation of a Heptageniidae nymph, otherwise know as a mayfly.


Folder and inserts for a company providing pitch delivery training for professionals. The concept for the folder was built around the cricketing terminology of bowling a ‘jaffa’ – the perfect delivery.
As the copy on the back of the brochure says, “In sporting parlance, when a bowler sends down the perfect delivery, pitching on exactly the right spot, it’s known as bowling a jaffa. The recipient of such a delivery is often only capable of acknowledging the skill and technique involved, resulting in them being completely bowled over.”

The client required a refresh of their design collateral which didn’t involve changing the already established logo. The colourful graphic representation of a barcode reflects the nature of the business and introduces a bright new colour palette. The examples show how this works when applied to brochure and web design.

Well North (and now Well North Entrprises) work alongside various partners to find new ways of creating healthy communities in ten specific local places. The initial brief was to design the logo. Subsequently designs were produced for their first annual report. Although the final report was quite different to these visuals, they won the pitch against other agencies and reflect the dynamism, diversity and inclusivity of the ‘Pathfinders’ and the people they were aiming to support.

These designs are the front covers of a series of four page 210mm square product leaflets for their Natural Stop range. Spanish translation versions of the layouts were also produced.

This annual report was illustrated throughout with infographics and iconography to highlight pertinent facts and figures. The tabbed panels were introduced to hold case studies that hightlighted aspects of the Centre’s work throughout the year.
